ACTION STEP 1) Don't serve money.

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." - Matthew 6:24

In attacking the debt in your life, don't be overly consumed with money. That's worry, which is faithlessness.

Keep a godly perspective by putting God first (Matthew 6:33) because it's biblically impossible to serve God and money. Don't be deceived at the ambiguity of statements like "put God first." You might ask, "What does that really mean?" The concept of putting God first seems abstract, vague, and even easy when you are not actually reading and following the scriptures daily. But when you are doing so daily, buckle up! That's when life really gets interesting--for the better.

When you overspend and get into debt, you run the risk of serving money. Why? Because debt can bring worries and family fights that can consume you. Money becomes your master. You will work more hours. The end result is that you end up serving money.

Beware of serving money. If you serve money, you're despising God.
